coffee table

This is an Ikea Lack Shelving Unit we modified into a coffee table.  Pieces of 1x6 MDF were added to each end using Liquid Nails and wood screws.  Adding the boards gave the casters a more solid base than the actual furniture.  Thanks, Lynsey for the idea.

I love the Lack as a coffee table & on wheels! We use the same one as a TV credenza. It's the best shelving ever!

Nice...I would put everything on wheels if I could, oh wait, I do. Another good resource for casters are farm stores (TSC) and welding shops. Welding shops that typically weld for farm equipment, truck beds, etc. do a very nice job if you bring in a drawing of the piece of furniture that you want them to create...for a 1/4 of the cost vs. room and board, etc. They have for us anyway, I think they enjoy the change, even if they think I'm a crazy designer who digs in scrape metal bins.

Nice work guys, it's fun to watch.
